Formula Explanation
Weight of Solute = Equivalent Weight × Normality × Volume (L)
Equivalent Weight: The mass of a substance that will combine with or displace 1 mole of hydrogen ions (or electrons). For example, the equivalent weight of potassium dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇) is 49 g/eq.
Normality: The concentration of a solution expressed as the number of gram equivalents of solute per liter of solution.
Volume: The total volume of the solution in liters.
Example: For potassium dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇) with equivalent weight 49, normality 0.25, and volume 1L:
Weight = 49 × 0.25 × 1 = 12.25 grams
